Honesty

Honesty, you better believe it video.
This video was about some kids in a school that were taking an exam. Many kids wanted to cheat but one guy stood up and told them “If i see anyone cheating, I will turn you in because I worked hard to get into medical school.” As soon as he said that, everyone put away their cheat sheets. Another one is a class also taking an exam and one girl asks a girl across from her if she knew the answer to number 4. She sat there quietly while looking at the teacher and thinking about her consequences. She finally looked at the other girl and told her she didn’t know. The lesson of this story is to always stay true to yourself and be honest. Don’t cheat on a test because that will come in the way of your future. If the teacher were to catch you, you would most likely get into deep trouble. If you know u have a test coming up, study for it. Pass the test so those long nights of studying actually pay off. Be proud and not guilty knowing that you cheating on that test is going to live with you forever.

when you tell a lie it leads to another.

“When you tell one lie it leads to another.”
This quote means that once you tell one lie, you will start to tell many lies to cover up what you did. In order for you not to get in trouble, the first thing you do is come up with an excuse to get yourself out of it. Why not tell the truth? Why get yourself in more trouble than what you already are? They might get mad at you for what you did but at least you told them the truth. You will get in trouble more if you come up with a lie that you know will get you out of the situation you are in. Maybe if you choose the right, you won’t have to come up with lies. You're always making good choices so you shouldn’t have to come up with any lies at all. When you tell people lies, they won’t be able to believe you anymore. When your telling them the truth, they might not believe you because of the many lies you told in your past. Is it better to keep one’s trust or lose it forever? You should think about that next time you want to lie to someone and make the problem worse for never telling them the truth.

The Sting

The Sting of the scorpion.

This story was about a little boy named Patrick Kearon and his family. They were enjoying a nice family vacation in the Arabian Peninsula. Patrick’s parents always told him to wear his tennis shoes if he was going to go out and walk around. Well, he decided to go and walk for a little bit. He put his sandals on because he said he was only going for a couple minutes. As he was walking he felt a thorn poke his foot. As he looked down he noticed that it wasn’t a thorn, it was a scorpion. He fell on the floor and started calling for his parents. As soon as his parents came, they drove him 2 hours to the hospital. When he got there, the doctor gave him an antibiotic that would numb his leg. After a while he felt better.  Life lesson: Always choose the right and listen to your parents. They can teach you a lot while growing up.

Always do right

“Always do right.”

What this quote is trying to say is to always choose the right. Make right decisions and good things will come to you. Many people would enjoy having you around if you treat them with respect. You will get far in life and have an education. Don’t get caught up in smoking or drinking because then you will have to restart your life. Stay away from drugs because with them, you won’t be able to get an education. Wouldn’t you like to have a nice house, nice job, and get paid good money in the future? I know I would. That’s why you must stay in school and make good choices. In the end when everything is all over, you can finally look at yourself in a mirror and say “I did it.” All the years in school and college will pay off once you're living in your nice house and a good paying job. By choosing the right you will get there. No matter how long it takes, you will succeed and become what you wish to be.

it's better to be alone

“It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company.”
I think this quote means that when you’re alone you don’t want to do bad things. You can think about how to make your life better or what to do to conquer your goals. If you hang out with the wrong crowd, then they might want to go steal or drink or smoke. That will get you into deep trouble. It’s better off being alone, like that you won’t have to be getting chased by the cops or getting introduced to new drugs. If you want to stay out of trouble, hang with people that are going to help you succeed not people that are going to succeed without you. You need friends that are “goal reachers” not “goal busters.” With them you won’t get very far in life. You will probably have to start life new and fresh when you realize the people you are with aren’t the people you want in your life.

3 questions

The 3 Questions:
  1. Can people trust me to do what’s right?
  2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
  3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
“If the answers to these are YES, there is no way you can fail.”
What this quote is trying to say is to always choose the right so people can confide in you. If you want people to have trust in you, you must show them that they can trust you when it comes to doing something they ask you to do. Always do your best when it comes to accomplishing your goals. Don’t bring yourself down or don’t let people bring you down towards your goals. Show them that you don’t need their help because you made it by yourself. Lastly, treat others how you want to be treated. This means that if you're nice to someone, they’re going to be nice back to you. If you're always mean and don’t know how to treat a person when they talk to you then they’re going to treat you the same way. If you want kindness, you must show kindness first. You can’t be mean then expect everyone to be nice to you. It doesn’t work like that but it works the opposite. Be nice and everyone will want to be your friend.

challenges teens face today

Challenges Teens Face Today

1. Major challenges teens deal with today:
  •  Depression
  • Bullying
  • Anorexia
  • Bulimia
  • Peer pressure
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Body issues
  • Smoking/drinking
  • Drug addiction
  • Teen pregnancy
2. Problems I’m dealing with today:
  • I am dealing with stress because I’m working on bringing my grades up and getting ready for the idp that’s coming up on Thursday, December 8.
3. Being a ctr person helps me overcome any challenges I face because i know to always make good choices no matter what I’m going through in life.
4. I can help other teens by encouraging them that everything will get better as you grow. If you always make good choices you’re already halfway through your life.

6. Reflection: What is the greatest need that teens have today?

  • I think the greatest need that teens have today is money. I think this because the teens want money to go out and eat with friends or buy drugs. When the parents don’t have money, they look towards selling drugs to make the money that the parents aren’t able to give them.

Physical fitness

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”

What this quote is trying to say is that you shouldn’t only be fit. You should have a strong mind because the mind is a powerful thing. You should always have a strong mind because strong minds are what gets you somewhere. This is also what keeps you going. You will have high expectations for yourself and make it through life. If you go out and smoke or drink, that’s making yourself have a bad mind. You should be focused on school and education and life after high school or college. Set your goals and make sure you can achieve them so in the end you can say “I did it!”. You will be able to look back on all the accomplishments that you made. You can think about how your life would be if you actually went out and smoked or drank most of the time. Be proud of what you have set for yourself because in the end, you will become what you want to become.

kindness

“Kindness is the essence of greatness”

This quote means that when you are kind, you are great. Being kind to everyone is what makes you look good. People will want to be around you. If you're not kind and don’t show manners, i don’t think you will have any friends because you're always rude to them and don’t show them manners. Choose the right by showing not only your friends but adults to that you know what manners are and you know how to show them to people. Treat people how you want to be treated. Don’t treat them bad and expect them to be nice to you. They will treat you how you treat them. Always be nice to everyone and show them kindness.

thanksgiving break

Thanksgiving Week

My thanksgiving break was fun. Although i didn’t do anything on Monday, I did something the next day. Since we were going out of town for thanksgiving, we thought we should have thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday. My Nina and her son came over and so did my father. We all gathered around the table and ate our food. Many of us had conversations so that the table wouldn’t sound quiet. After we finished eating, we played pie in the face. This game you put whip cream on a sponge and turn the crank. The hand either clicks or it goes up and you get PIE IN THE FACE! The next day we had to get up early because we were leaving to Vegas. We packed all of our stuff the night before. At 8:00 am we all woke up and started packing everything into the cars. When we were finished we hit the road. It took us about 4-5 hours to get there. Good thing there was no traffic. When we got over there, we put our stuff down in the hotel. My grandma and grandpa left to the casino and we went to go walk the Vegas strip. My sister and brother stayed in the hotel. We walked around, seen all the casinos, took pictures, and went to go and eat. After we were done we got uber to take us back. The next day we all went to circus circus. They had rides and we had so much fun. On Friday, it was time for us to go home. Before we left, we went black Friday shopping. It was so packed that i wanted to go home. When we were all done we left home. On Saturday it was my aunt’s birthday so we threw her a party. We ate and and danced all night.

Manners

“Manners maketh man.”
What this quote is saying is that manners is what makes a person look good. How you act with other people shows that you know how to respect someone. You don’t call them names or talk bad about them behind their back. You know how to keep your rude comments to yourself no matter how bad you want to say it. Treat people how you want to be treated. You treat someone with respect, they will to. Treat someone with disrespect and they will treat you like that back. Be nice to people even if they’re not nice to you. That just shows that you have a good heart even if people are being mean to you. If someone helps you on something, always say thank you. When you're asking someone for something, always say please. Saying please and thank you is a sign of respect to people older than you. It shows that you know how to act like a gentlemen or ladylike in person.

Do Right

“If it is not right, don’t do it; if it is not true, don’t say it.”

What this quote is trying to say is to not do something wrong because it feels right. Don’t choose the wrong because of the feeling in your body. Think about what this choice of yours might do to your life. You might end up in jail or under house arrest until you learn how to make right choices. Always choose to make good choices, not for you but for your family. Make your family proud no matter what. They want to see you succeed in life not fail.
If something is not true, then why go and spread rumors about it? First find out yourself if something is true because if that were to happen to you, would you be happy? Would you like someone spreading rumors about you even if it wasn’t true? I don't think you would so don’t go and do it to someone else if you wouldn't like them doing it to you. If someone does say something about you that isn’t true, don’t let it get to you. You know it’s a lie so why let people’s lies affect you? Just go on with the rest of your day because if you don’t, then your whole day is going to go bad.

thanksgiving

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. Days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, when Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national thanksgiving day to be held each November. Pilgrims held their second Thanksgiving celebration in 1623 to mark the end of a long drought that had threatened the year’s harvest and prompted governor Bradford to call for a religious fast. Beginning in the mid-20th century, the president of the United States has “pardoned” one or two Thanksgiving turkeys each year, sparing the birds from slaughter and sending them to a farm for retirement.

I am thankful for:

  1. My family
  2. Being alive
  3. Having a family/friends
  4. Caring parents
  5. Having a roof over my head
  6. Having food in my belly
  7. Food
  8. Everything
  9. Getting an education
  10. Being a part of this tradition
  11. Waking up in the morning
  12. Everything that my aunt does

Fair

“Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing.”

What this quote is saying is to always be fair. No matter what EVERYONE should be fair and honest with each other. Don’t lie just to win at a game or a sport, tell the truth. Winning or losing shouldn’t matter to you. What should matter most is you choosing the right. Thing about how someone might feel if you blamed them for stealing something when you know it was you. When you do bad, you feel bad but when you do good, you feel good.

“Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself.”

What this quote is trying to say is to create a high standard for yourself. Don’t create one because that’s what other people expect of you. Put yourself to achieve higher in life. For example, AP classes or honor classes is striving higher for you. If we are in a higher standard in life nothing will bother us because we are focused on what we want to achieve. Aim for what you think is better for you to succeed.

Veterans day

What is Veterans Day?
  • A public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War 1 to honor US veterans and victims of all wars.
When is it?
  • Veterans day is November 11.
What is the purpose?
  • Veterans day is where we honor the brave men and women of the armed forces who risk their lives to protect our freedom.
Why is it important to show honor?
  • It’s important to show honor so we can let the veterans know that we are grateful for what they did to protect our country.
How to show honor:
  • Say Thank you
  • Write to a veteran
  • Participate in festivals for veterans day

My feelings towards Veterans day is that i’m thankful for what the veterans did for us. They risked their lives to keep our lives safe. They made sure no one came in our country and destroyed it. Even if some people did not make it, we know they died saving the world. I am thankful for everything they have done for us.

Integrity

These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity:
  1. Have the courage to say no.
  2. Have the courage to face the truth.
  3. Do the right thing because it is right.

What the first number is trying to say is to say no. If someone comes up to you and offers you drugs say no. You know what is right so don’t begin to do wrong. Continue on with the ctr path and you will get somewhere. If you continue on the ctw path you will get somewhere but you won’t get far as how you think you will.
What the second number is trying to say is to take responsibility for your actions. If you do something wrong, come forward and say it was you. Don’t put the blame on someone else so you won’t have to suffer the consequences. Be the bigger person and take the blame.
What the third quote is trying to say is to always choose the right. Do what is right even in tough situations. Don’t choose to do drugs because your friends are doing it also. Set an example to your friends and show them that by them doing drugs, they won’t get anywhere. If they don’t listen to you well, then you know who your true “friends” are.

Wise Men

Image result for he that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

What this quote is saying is that if we hang out with the wrong people, then we start to become like them. We will start drinking, smoking, and partying just like the "friends" you have. Surround yourself with people that will help you succeed and make you go forward instead of backwards. Don't let the wrong crowd control you. If you see what they're doing is wrong, tell them or simply leave. Go find better people to be with because then you will be the one in trouble along with all the other kids.

An example of someone who walks with wise men would be the kids that do their work in school and always finishes their homework. Another example would be the kids that obey their parents and ask for permission to go somewhere. An example of kids who don't follow wise men would be those that go out partying until late. Those kids that like to skip school and go somewhere else instead. The kids that never want to abide by the rules so they go and do their own thing. Don't do something in life that you are going to regret later on. Wishing you had went to school so you can be getting money like all your friends. Having an education and graduating from high school/college. Don't be a high school/college dropout. Be a High school/college GRADUATE.

The Gainsville Tornadoes

The Gainsville Tornadoes

What happened in this video is the basketball team Vanguard was playing against Gainsville. One of the basketball players mentioned that Gainsville doesn't get fans when they play against each other. Two of the basketball players from Vanguard told half of their team to cheer for the other team so they won't fell left out. Every time Gainsville made a point the cheerleaders cheered and the crowd was on their feet clapping for them. They didn't care who won the game. The only thing they cared about was that it made Gainsville happy.

best recreation

“The best recreation is to do good.”

What this quote is trying to say is that no matter what, always choose the right. Be a person that treats everyone nice and everyone will like you. When you do good, you feel good so why feel bad all the time? Live a happy life and don’t let other people change you. You do things than make you the happy person you want to be. Be a leader not a follower. Lead people into doing good things and reject the people that lead you into doing bad things. You don’t want to mess up your whole life because of “fitting” in with the wrong crowd. Make you own crowd. Do what you want to do inorder to succeed because if you spend your life following your “friends” you won’t get anywhere in life.

right is right

“Right is right even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it.”

This quote means that even though there is a lot of people choosing the wrong, doesn’t mean you go and choose the wrong to fit in with the crowd. Do what you think is the right thing to do. Don’t let other people control how your life should be ran. Do what you gotta do and you will succeed because your life is based on the decisions you make. No one should make decisions for you. Let them make their own decisions even if they are bad. You can’t control another person’s life so let them be. If they see what they’re doing is right then you go on with life. Your life will be good because you're in control. No one else but you. Always choose the right, even if stand alone.

don't sacrifice

“Don’t sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often.”

What this quote is trying to say is to not let other decisions come in the way of succeeding. For example, telling yourself that you’re going to go home and finish the essay that is due for homework but then want to make plans to go out after school to a friend’s party is wrong. Don’t let excuses come in the way of you trying to make your life better. Finish what you gotta do first and then if you have time you can go and have fun with your friends. Put your education first then any other activities you want to go and do. Be successful in life because that’s what you're parents want to see. They want to see you graduate from high school and go to grad-night or prom. If you continue to choose the right and not make any bad decisions along your way, then you will become someone in life. You will achieve the goals you have set for yourself and make that good name for you.

homecoming 2016

Homecoming 2016

  1. A school homecoming is a tradition of welcoming back former students and celebrating a school’s existence.
  2. We celebrate homecoming because we are welcoming back students that graduated before and they can see old friends.
  3. Events and activities related to homecoming would be pep rallies and a homecoming dance.
  4. It’s called a “homecoming game” because the president of Missouri, Chester L. Brewer decided to lighten up the rivalry with a parade and festivities back in 1911 to show support for the football game.
  5. Homecoming etiquette is the rules or attire someone has to follow by. Homecoming dances are usually semi-formal. A rule for homecoming would be to be respectful.

A Good Name

Image result for a good name quotes
"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in life."

What this quote is trying to say is that you get a good name by making good choices. Be remembered as someone who always chose the right instead of choosing the wrong. Make the right decisions to succeed in life. If you choose to make bad choices you won’t go no where. You won’t have a house, or the dream car you want, or the amount of money you want by constantly choosing the wrong. Good choices get rewarded but bad choices don’t. Choose the right and everyone will know you for you. Don’t chose the wrong to fit in with the wrong crowd. Make a good name for yourself even if you have to get that name on your own. Be with people that will help you get through life not people who are going to be keeping you from continuing on with life.

global opportunities

“Global Opportunities: Careers in Other Countries”

Careers in other countries would be:
  1. In Spain, you can become a dentist with a degree from a Spanish university. They get paid $175,961 a year.
  2. In China, you can become a lawyer if you speak their language. They get paid $146,954 annually.
  3. In Switzerland, you can become a teacher with a master’s degree in the subject of your choice, experience teaching, and an advanced teaching diploma. They get paid $68,000 annually.

Reflection: Would you like to work in another country?  If yes, tell which country and career. Why? If no, why not?

I think I wouldnt like to work in another country because even though it’s good to travel, I wouldn’t want to leave my parents behind. I want to help them and leaving wouldn’t help.
